Lately, I’ve been fighting my inner demons — trying to feel things in a “normal” amount instead of letting them swallow me whole. Sounds easy, right? Yeah, not really.
It honestly sucks being overly sensitive and empathetic, trying to put myself in other people’s shoes, understanding them and letting my own emotions and feelings slide away. But telling yourself that, “It’s not that deep, everyone got their own battles” but how to make someone understand that you don’t want them to fight their battles on their own, you don’t want them to suffer alone!
You want to be there until the storms passes because helping others feels like overcoming the things inside you which were left to dealt alone. But there’s nothing you can do if someone doesn’t want your help, sometimes you just have to Let Them! Let them be on their own, until they reach out without having any hard feelings.
The only thing you can really offer, when your presence isn’t what they need, is time, space, and the quiet reassurance that you’re still here. No pressure. No guilt. No hard feelings.
Not everyone is fighting against you.
Empathy doesn’t mean erasing yourself.
It means understanding without absorbing.
It means caring without controlling.
But don’t forget: you’re worthy of the same care you so freely give.
So set it free!
